| Celloid Lawries with Ivory Bushes | This set of pipes was purchased in 1992
from a piper with the Saladin Temple Pipe Band in Grand
Rapids. He had been the pipe major when the band folded
in the late 1970s. He was charged with
responsibility of "getting the pipes out to those
who would use them." The band had been
formed in the 1950's. He had two sets of Lawries and two sets of Hardies. This set was most interesting to me as it was in remarkable condition, complete, the oldest, had unusual mountings and appeared to have ivory bushes. It had been owned by one of the older pipers in the band. |
